Ruts. You never realise you’re in them until you’ve been there for far too long.
Which means that when I began this blog I was in the process of clambering out of a style rut. Working in my industry is a double-edged sword: it’s tremendously casual, which makes for a fantastic office environment, but, well, it’s tremendously casual. It’s easy to find yourself falling back on decent-jeans-and-a-nice-top when even that renders you several times smarter than at least one of the directors.
But good gravy I was bored! So, I began quietly reading through the phenomenally inspirational blogs in my blogroll. I started investing in cute little tunics and skirts (the fact that you could have heard a pin drop when I stalked across the office in *shockhorror* an ankle length skirt only confirmed to me just how much of a rut I’d fallen into) and dresses.
I developed an appreciation for the style of wonderful ladies who make up the vintage corner of the internet, and from that followed a determination to add fabulous vintage pieces to my wardrobe.
In short, I decided to have a bit of fun with, and add a bit of colour and variety to, my wardrobe
Oh, and why Tea and Feathers? Well, I’ve a cupboard full of the former (well, I am British…), and three pet birds ensure I’ve always got plenty of the latter!
